Role (Description)
We are seeking a highly resourceful, experienced, and results-driven Technical Project Manager who excels at working across internal and external teams to lead the successful deployment, integration, and operationalization of our software products.
As a Technical Project Manager, you will manage and lead projects with our key customers that directly impact the mission success of national security and defence organizations. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, enjoys working closely with cross-functional teams, and has a passion for technology, problem-solving, and delivering successful project outcomes.
You will plan, manage, and supervise all aspects of software deployment, integration, and adoption, ensuring that projects meet timelines, budgets, and desired objectives. Acting as the key liaison between technical teams, network administrators, infrastructure operators, and client stakeholders, you will ensure seamless execution of all project phases.
Responsibilities
- Travel (up to 30%) to customer locations to lead projects involving software deployment, training and exercises, systems and data integration, and on-site support.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle, fostering strong relationships, and gaining customer trust through reliable delivery and clear communication.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of ANVIL’s software capabilities and solutions, enabling you to effectively communicate how it can solve problems and provide value to our customers.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of existing customer workflows, tools, and business processes. Use this knowledge to identify areas where our software can add value.
- Manage communication and collaboration between internal teams and external partners to ensure project milestones are met.
- Work closely with technical teams to identify potential risks, scope changes, and technical challenges. Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth resolution while maintaining project alignment with schedules, budgets, and objectives.
- Regularly provide detailed project status reports, documentation, and updates to both internal leadership and external stakeholders, ensuring full transparency on project progress.
- Ensure all deployments and configurations are in compliance with client security standards and operational protocols.
- Coordinate and manage training sessions, onboarding, and user support to facilitate successful adoption of the software by end-users.
- Act as a conduit for product feedback by consolidating and communicating insights from customers and end-users to the product development teams to help refine future iterations of ANVIL’s software offerings.
- Drive the enhancement of project management processes, tools, and best practices. Champion process improvements that boost the team’s effectiveness and streamline project delivery.
Prerequisites
- Eligible for Government of Canada Top Secret security clearance
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience leading and managing large-scale, complex IT or software deployment projects, ideally within the defence, government, or national security sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and execute in a high-pressure environment. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead collaborative efforts across multiple teams to drive project success. Strong leadership and decision-making abilities in mission-critical scenarios.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present project updates, technical issues, and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven track record of managing complex customer relationships and driving consensus across a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior leadership, technical teams, and external partners.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving technical issues, managing risks, and navigating ambiguity to keep projects on track.
Desired Skills/Assets
- Familiarity with C2I applications such as SitaWare, NATO Common Operational Picture (NCOP), Esri AllSource and others is an asset.
- Familiarity with C2I data exchange message formats and protocols such as Cursor on Target (CoT), NATO Friendly Force Information (NFFI), Variable Message Format (VMF) and others is an asset.
- A strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, and systems integration will be highly beneficial in translating technical requirements into project objectives and facilitating technical conversations with stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project management methodologies, along with experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Project.
